YO Leon loved her and believed in her more than ANYONE and she shows he had every reason to. In her growing up and finding hope and being true to herself, she was nearly killed, she was raped, she is very clearly mentally ill, and she is every bit as much a victim as Leon himself and all the others driven to despair by Enoshima’s agenda.
I really don’t see how her obsession is any different from like, Souda’s or Touko’s, except that it’s more honest in how unhealthy it is.
Like Jesus Christ. This girl is awesome. She dresses femme and looks pretty as fuck and has a very forward, blunt, aggressive personality associated with masculinity, she’s so silly and such a dweeb like SHE PUT TOOTHPICKS IN HAGAKURE’S DREADS, she’s flawed and fucked up and grows and struggles and yo she was originally the PROTAG just like how Leon was originally the DR protag and u GH she is such a good character do not write her off as a villain or yandere I WILL FIGHT YOU
esp if you’re a fan of Leon’s bc Kanon was one of the last things on his mind and one of the last things he saw just the day before his death, was his motivation hand-picked to drive him to despair, was who he loved and believed in more than anyone, was possibly part of why he defended so violently against Maizono, why he fought against and was willing to forsake all the others to escape. He’s dead, he fucked up, he was a victim of Ultimate Despair but Kanon, who he believed in, his most important person, his kin, is out there, alive, PROVING that his belief in her was never misplaced and carrying on his legacy while creating her own.
And that alone is good enough for me.
